Governor Says He Has Not Decided Whom He Will Appoint

It is quite certain that Governor Slaton will appoint a South Georgia lawyer to succeed

Judge J. R.

Pottle on the state court of appeals.

Judge R. B. Russell, one of the judges of that court, lives at Winder, and Judge L. S. Roan, another, resides in Atlanta.

Judge Pottle came from Blakely.

It is not to be expected that the governor will give Judge Pottle s place to a north Georgia man, thereby recognizing one section alone in all these judgeships.

The announcement of S. S. Bennett, of Albany, that he will not accept the place, means that Governor Slaton will look elsewhere in South Georgia for a successor to Judge Pottle.

It is said that he has under consideration Warren Grice, of Hawkinsville, and Peyton Wade, of Dublin.

The governor himself, says he has not yet decided who he will appoint and will not do so until he receives Judge Pottle s resignation.
