Lehon Declares He's Satisfied With Progress on Case

So Far

There were no developments in the Frank case Saturday, nor did there appear to be prospect of any important change in the present situation until he extraordinary motion for Frank's new trial is heard on April 16.

Unless Detective William J. Burns, who is expected back from his investigations in New York City the latter part of this week, gives out any of the results of his probe on his return, there is indication both sides will be content to mark time until the trial motion comes up for a hearing.

According to Dan Lehon, head of the Burns agencies in the south and in charge of the local end of the detective's case during his absence, Burns had not left New York City Saturday but was expected to do so the first part of next week.

Before returning to Atlanta, said Mr. Lehon, Burns will visit a point west of New York on an important angle of the Frank case.

"We are entirely satisfied with the progress of our investigations so far," said Mr. Lehon.

"I can only say what the governor said (meaning Mr. Burns); that this case is no harder than any other to solve.

The failures in solving crimes are due to improper investigations.

We want to get at the facts and all the facts, to leave no stone unturned.

Before we took up this case, I may say that there were some stones unturned, many of which we ourselves have looked under since and many of which are still left too, to be turned.

"We have collected a great deal of new evidence and I emphatically assert that we will clear up this case to the satisfaction of every right-thinking man in the United States.

I myself have been working day and night. I have gone over the ground at the pencil factory several times and may do so again."

Mr. Lehon said he expects to keep on working at the Frank case after Burns' return until the entire investigation is ended.

He could not say exactly how long Burns would take to finish the case.

Neither the defense nor the prosecution had any statement to give out Saturday in regard to the Frank case.

Frank himself stated that he had nothing to say.
